cocktails? yes, please!

for over a year now, i’ve been fretting about the need to update the 2008 self-portrait that’s on the bio page of my website. seems a little ironic, in truth, but i really dread being photographed in a formal way. snapshots, no problem, but to have a proper camera pointed at me for more than a second or two just fills me with a certain kind of anxiety.

push officially came to shove this past Thursday.

my long time photographic co-conspirator Luke Copping and i had been talking for nearly a year about doing a portrait trade so we decided to stick to our plan before the year end - do some work, have some fun, get the shots.

cocktails? - yes please……

while i sat in makeup (lovingly handled by the very talented Nicole Barry, Godblessherheart) and watched Luke set the lights i kept thinking: i can still pull the plug on this endeavor. nevertheless i stayed true to our pact. we took turns in the hot seat, and in the end i think we both actually enjoyed it every step of the way. and why, not? afterall, this is what we do best.
